Whilst still at school made an early start in the theatre business as a broadcaster and writer for BBC Children's Hour. He trained as an actor at RADA after winning the first Sir Kenneth Barnes Scholarship. He then worked as an actor in Rep, on many tours both in this country and abroad, and in the West End.

He first became interested in directing whilst working in Rep at Her Majesty’s Theatre, Barrow-in-Furness where he directed and appeared in many productions. In 1987 he formed his own production company and now divides his time between producing, directing and acting.

For Logos, Bryan Hands has directed The Cherry Orchard by Anton Chekhov at the Wimbledon Studio Theatre and Ghosts, by Heinrik Ibsen, also at Wimbledon Studio.  Other directing includes Intimacy (adapted from a short story by Sartre) at Pentameters Theatre Hampstead, and the premiere of a new dramatisation of a Chekhov short story Summer of the Eclipse at Baron's Court Theatre.

He directed 'THE VORTEX' by Noel Coward at the King's Head, Islington, the second tour of You Must Be the Husband, a new comedy by Colin Bostock-Smith starring Jeffrey Holland, and a tour of Wife Begins at Forty with David Roper and Jack Douglas.

More recently, he also directed a new revue, Now and Then, at the King's Head and several rehearsed readings at the Theatre Museum. At the Lyric Hammersmith he directed Death Penalty by Reggie Oliver with Edward de Souza.

Recent work as an actor includes Brian in Death on the Fringe at Pentameters Theatre, Hampstead, A Passionate Woman at the Comedy Theatre, Blithe Spirit for the English Theatre of Hamburg, a tour of Greek by Steven Berkoff and Frank in Willy Russell's Educating Rita, also for the English Theatre of Hamburg.

Television work includes Jeremy Gompertz in the Sky News reconstruction of the Hutton Enquiry and The Elder for BBC Chucklevision.

Bryan Hands has been a Logos committee member since 2002.
